Member Service Coordinator- Spears

Pay: $18/hr.

Hours: Mon- Fri 9a-6p


POSITION SUMMARY

The Member Services Coordinator is responsible in assisting the Membership Director and/or the Guest Services Director with the leadership of and record keeping for the Membership Department. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greensboro is responsible for carrying out our promise to strengthen the foundations of community with focus on Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility while upholding our values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Be proficient in computer operation and organized in record keeping so that all required reports are completed and distributed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Process new memberships, changes, current membership updates, invoices and bank drafts, balancing on daily receipts.
  • Direct and coach the part-time staff to follow all policies and procedures established by the YMCA of Greensboro and the branch Membership Director.
  • Have the ability to make decisions and assist the Membership Director as needed.
  • Share in coverage of front desk operations on rotating basis with other Full Time Membership Staff.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May directly supervise the Member Service Staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions and percentages to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to handle conflict and resolve situations with members, the ability to independently develop and implement solutions to problems as they arise within acceptable bounds of YMCA policy and procedure, the ability to make decisions when a higher authority figure is not available to assist.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hand to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Certifications: CPR/AED, First Aid, Blood borne pathogen training required after hire and must remain current.
