Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to residents in assisted living, nursing homes, and other healthcare settings. This position requires a strong understanding of medication administration, patient care, and the ability to work effectively with individuals with various needs, including those with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's, dementia, and hospice care.
Duties
- Administer medications to residents according to prescribed schedules and protocols.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor residents' vital signs and report any changes or concerns to nursing staff.
- Assist with daily living activities and provide compassionate caregiving support.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation purposes.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for residents by adhering to health and safety standards.
- Provide support for tube feeding, catheter care, and other specialized medical needs as required.
- Engage with residents in meaningful ways to promote their emotional well-being.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following experience or skills:
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care settings.
- Familiarity with working with people with developmental disabilities and providing memory care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and vital signs monitoring.
- Experience with medication administration and understanding of related protocols.
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for effective medical documentation.
- A background in caregiving or senior care is highly desirable.
