Join our dynamic mental health team as a Mental Health Counselor, where you will play a vital role in providing compassionate, comprehensive psychological support to diverse populations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your clinical expertise in psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and behavioral therapy to improve clients’ well-being. You will conduct diagnostic evaluations, develop personalized treatment plans, and deliver both individual and group counseling sessions across outpatient and inpatient settings. We offer flexible hours where you can make your own schedule. The position is a sub-contractor position meaning you can work as much or as little as you want.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to accurately identify client needs.
  • Deliver individual and group therapy sessions employing modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing (among others).
  • Implement crisis management strategies and crisis intervention techniques to ensure immediate safety and stabilization of clients experiencing acute mental health episodes.
  • Provide specialized counseling services, including grief counseling, addiction counseling, gender issues counseling, pediatric mental health support, and working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive case management plans that include social work integration, medical documentation, and patient care coordination.
  • Maintain HIPAA-compliant medical records and documentation of clinical encounters using precise medical terminology and CPT coding for billing purposes.
  • Facilitate telehealth sessions to expand access to mental health services while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Engage in clinical research activities when applicable, contributing to data collection efforts that enhance treatment efficacy and service delivery.

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field; licensure or certification as required by state law; or be part of a college internship program.
  • Strong knowledge of psychotherapeutic techniques including motivational interviewing, psychodynamic therapy, behavioral management, and psychopharmacology principles is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems for diagnostic evaluation and medical record keeping.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport quickly while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Ability to work effectively in telehealth environments utilizing secure platforms for remote patient care.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
