Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges by providing direct care and assistance in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This position requires a strong understanding of various therapeutic techniques and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes.
Duties
- Provide direct support to patients, assisting with daily activities and promoting their overall well-being.
- Conduct patient assessments and document medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Implement therapeutic interventions, including individual and group counseling sessions, utilizing techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and crisis intervention.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions, focusing on topics such as grief counseling, addiction counseling, and PTSD care.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and coding using ICD-9 and ICD-10 standards.
- Support patients during crisis situations, employing effective crisis management strategies.
- Engage in clinical research activities as needed to contribute to the advancement of mental health practices.
- Assist with intake processes for new patients, ensuring thorough evaluations are conducted.
- While we provide leads for clinicians as they come in, we also require clinicians to solicit clients to fill their caseloads.
Qualifications
- Experience in mental health counseling or related fields is preferred, particularly with children and families.
- Familiarity with various therapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and behavioral therapy.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care protocols, and clinical documentation standards.
- Strong skills in case management and behavior management techniques.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
- Background in couples and family counseling is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in both inpatient and outpatient settings while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Understanding of psychopharmacology principles is beneficial for patient interactions.
