Merchandiser – Hand Embroidery & Western Garments

About the Company

We are a Mumbai-based, 100% export-oriented manufacturing house specializing in hand embroidery and contemporary western garments for leading European and international brands. Our focus blends traditional craftsmanship with modern silhouettes, sustainable material innovation, and precision in execution — delivering globally admired collections season after season.

Role Objective

To manage buyer developments, sampling, and production workflows for export markets while driving creative innovation, fabrication accuracy, vendor coordination, and sustainability initiatives that enhance the company’s global reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute client requirements from design concept to production delivery.
  • Research and present new embroidery techniques, materials, and design styles aligned with European trends and seasonal palettes.
  • Prepare accurate costing, consumption estimates, and quotations considering material mix and process efficiency.
  • Coordinate day-to-day with sampling, design, and production teams to ensure adherence to technical specs, timelines, and buyer approvals.
  • Identify, source, and manage vendors, suppliers, embroidery workshops, and job workers.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of hand and machine embroidery materials, fabric characteristics, and garment finishing processes.
  • Manage fabric pre-treatment, hand dyeing processes, and embroidery artwork adjustments to control distortion and shrinkage.
  • Implement and promote usage of recycled, sustainable, and innovative materials across collections.
  • Utilize AI-based and digital tools for market research, vendor discovery, and development planning.
  • Maintain costing files, T&A reports, production trackers, and buyer communication logs using MS Office.
  • Support development of strike-offs, embellishment cards, and collection presentations when required.
  • Ensure compliance with export schedules, packaging standards, and quality benchmarks.

Desired Skills

  • Strong understanding of Hand Embroidery & western garment construction and finishing details.
  • Working knowledge of export documentation, trims follow-ups, and Time & Action (T&A) plans.
  • Effective negotiation, budgeting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is essential.
  • Added proficiency in CorelDRAW, Canva, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, or CAD tools will be an advantage.
  • Strong grasp of AI-driven sourcing, trend research, and workflow automation tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication for buyer and vendor correspondence.
  • Qualification: Graduate/Diploma in Fashion Merchandising, Apparel Production, or Textile Design. Key Attributes
