Position: Merchandiser / Sourcing Executive – Sarees & Handloom Collections

Type: Full-time, On-site

Location: Bengaluru, India

Travel Requirement: Up to 50% travel across India

We are seeking a dynamic Merchandiser / Sourcing Executive who will play a pivotal role in expanding The Saffron House’s artisan network. The role involves researching, identifying, and partnering with weaving clusters, artisans, and manufacturers across India to source high-quality handloom sarees and fabrics. The candidate will oversee end-to-end sourcing — from vendor discovery and negotiation to production monitoring and quality control — ensuring that every collection upholds the brand’s design direction and craftsmanship standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and identify new artisans, weaving clusters, and manufacturing partners across India.
  • Build and nurture long-term vendor and artisan relationships based on trust, quality, and ethical practices.
  • Oversee sourcing, sampling, production timelines, and dispatch coordination.
  • Conduct frequent field visits (approximately 50% travel) to weaving clusters for sourcing and quality inspections.
  • Collaborate with design, marketing, and retail teams to align collections with brand aesthetics and market trends.
  • Monitor inventory levels, cost structures, and vendor performance to optimize sourcing efficiency.
  • Ensure consistency in craftsmanship, color, and finish across all handloom products.
Qualifications
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
  • Experience in merchandising, sourcing, or textile buying , preferably within the handloom or fashion industry.
  • Proven ability to research and connect with regional clusters and artisans .
  • Deep understanding of Indian handloom traditions, weaving techniques, and materials .
  • Highly organized with analytical thinking for production and inventory coordination.
  • Comfortable with frequent travel (up to 50%) across India for sourcing and cluster engagement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Management, Textile Design, Business, or a related field .
