Meteorology Engineer Intern

Job Description

This internship is designed for earth science students with solid fundamentals who want to learn how professional weather forecasting systems operate.

You should have curiosity, foundational meteorological understanding, have interests in such as Numerical Weather Prediction models and synoptic meteorology, have experience in weather data analysis through Python and R.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring daily forecast outputs
• Interpreting synoptic, mesoscale, and aviation charts
• Helping prepare short weather summaries and internal reports
• Checking and organizing meteorological datasets
• Assisting the team with observations, radar/satellite interpretations
• Understanding how our high-resolution NWP systems work
• Helping visualize or summarize output for product teams

Requirements

• University students 4th grade in Meteorological Engineering , Physics / Applied Physics, Geophysical Engineering, Earth Science–related departments
• Experience with Python, R, or similar tools
• Ability to interpret maps, charts, and observations
• Understanding of synoptic/mesoscale meteorology
• Curiosity and passion for weather systems
• Able to commit long-term internship at least 3 full days a week
• Attention to detail and academic research skills
• Strong interpersonal, communication, self-organization and coordination skills
• Excellent communication in both English and Turkish
