Veterinary Microbiologist
This microbiologist position will assist in coordinating organizational and operational aspects of the microbiology laboratory in order to provide outstanding customer service through accurate and timely lab results. The microbiologist works collaboratively with, coworkers, veterinarians and the courier and reports to the lab supervisor.
This position will see the majority of it's time in the ELISA lab/PCR Lab as well as performing traditional microbiology
Wages paid hourly plus any overtime at time and a half. Paid holidays and 2 weeks paid vacation at start. After 90 days eligible for IRA and health care. Health care paid up to $700 per month if on company health care plan. Must be able to work with others and as a team. Must have valid driver’s license. Workweek rotates every 4 weeks between Sunday through Thursday with Friday/Saturday off and Monday through Friday with Saturday and Sunday off. Hours are 7:15 AM- 4:00 PM with an hour for lunch. Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
· Sample receipt and preparation for testing
· Organism diagnosis
· Culture specimens, isolate and identify microbes
· Basic microbiology including sample plating and media making
· Analyze and record test information to issue lab reports
· Recognize erroneous outcomes, reporting them immediately and ensuring all processes are well controlled and documented
· Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment

· Ability to work in a fast paced environment
· Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and strong team working skills
· Ability to organize and prioritize within a changing environment
· Good computer skills such as Access, Outlook, spreadsheets and word processing desired but not required.
· Should be able to think and operate independently
· Demonstrate initiative and attention to detail and able to work with changing priorities
· Use safety/universal precautions to protect self and others
· Able to implement protocol and follow procedures
· Excellent documentation practices
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Willingness to learn or research new and different procedures
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
