Middle School ELA Teacher

Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Middle School ELA (English Language Arts) Teacher to inspire students in grades six through eight to develop their literacy, critical thinking, and creative expression skills. Responsibilities

• Design engaging and comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating diverse instructional strategies and learning technologies to meet varied student needs.
• Deliver compelling lessons in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and literature, utilizing AP style and Chicago Manual of Style guidelines for instruction and student work.
• Develop and implement assessments that measure student progress, including standardized tests and formative evaluations, providing timely feedback to support growth.
• Mentor students individually and in groups, fostering a supportive environment that promotes literacy education, research skills, and creative writing.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and integrating library services to enrich the learning experience.
• Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management techniques and classroom management strategies to create an organized learning environment.
• Engage in ongoing professional development related to linguistics, instructional best practices, special education accommodations, Montessori methods (if applicable), and higher education teaching techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications in education are preferred.
• Proven classroom experience teaching middle school students with strong classroom management skills.
• Demonstrated expertise in literacy education, lesson planning, curriculum development, and instructional design.
• Proficiency with learning technology tools such as educational software, digital assessment platforms, and online research resources.
• Knowledge of AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, proofreading techniques, copy editing skills, and journalistic principles.
• Experience working with diverse student populations including those requiring special education accommodations or behavioral support.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and students’ families.
• Organizational skills necessary for managing multiple classes, assessments, and extracurricular activities such as tutoring or academic advising.
• Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and private school educational standards; experience with Montessori or other specialized educational approaches is a plus.
