Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Middle School English Teacher to inspire and engage students in grades 6 through 8. Duties
- Develop comprehensive curriculum plans aligned with state standards and school objectives, incorporating innovative instructional strategies and learning technology tools
- Deliver engaging lessons that promote literacy, creative writing, journalism, and analytical skills across diverse student populations
- Utilize AP style guidelines and the Chicago Manual of Style for teaching writing and editing skills effectively
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparation and ongoing assessments
- Provide individualized tutoring and support for students needing extra help in literacy education, language arts, or special education needs
- Manage classroom behavior proactively through effective behavior management techniques and classroom management best practices
- Mentor students by offering academic advising, guidance on research projects, and fostering a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity and participation
Skills
- Strong expertise in curriculum development, instructional design, and lesson planning tailored to middle school learners
- Excellent communication skills to clearly convey concepts and foster open dialogue with students, parents, and colleagues
- Proficiency in working with learning technology platforms, digital resources, and library services to enhance instruction
- Deep understanding of linguistics, Chicago Manual of Style standards, proofreading techniques, and copy editing for teaching writing skills
- Experience in classroom management strategies suitable for middle school environments with diverse student needs
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and educational administration practices within private or Montessori school settings
- Ability to mentor students effectively while demonstrating organizational skills necessary for lesson planning and instructional delivery
- Background in higher education teaching or experience with research-based instructional methods is a plus
