Middle School Science/Biology

Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Middle School Science/Biology teacher to inspire and educate students in grades 6 through 8. Duties

  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that incorporate science and biology concepts such as cell biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, and molecular biology.
  • Design engaging activities utilizing learning technology to enhance understanding of complex topics like calculus, trigonometry, geometry, algebra, and discrete math.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments including dissection, microbiology studies, and research projects to reinforce scientific principles and laboratory safety protocols.
  • Assess student progress through standardized testing, quizzes, projects, and classroom participation; provide constructive feedback to support growth.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering an inclusive environment that respects diverse learning styles and special education needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and integrating research-based teaching strategies.
  • Mentor students by offering academic advising, tutoring sessions, and guidance on science-related careers or research opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and lesson plans; ensure compliance with school policies and educational standards.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of science disciplines including biology (cell biology, genetics, microbiology), chemistry (organic chemistry), mathematics (algebra, geometry, calculus), and scientific research methods.
  • Proficiency in curriculum development tailored to middle school learners; experience with instructional design tools and learning technology platforms.
  • Laboratory experience with dissection techniques, microbiology procedures, molecular biology experiments, and research laboratory practices.
  • Excellent classroom management skills combined with effective communication skills to engage students and collaborate with staff.
  • Ability to adapt lessons for diverse learners including those requiring special education accommodations or Montessori-based approaches.
  • Experience in working with standardized testing formats; strong proofreading skills for assessments and instructional materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor students through academic advising or tutoring; familiarity with private school environments is a plus.
