JOB PURPOSE

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching students in Sixth through Eighth Grade and be committed to fostering a supportive, creative, and inclusive classroom environment. This role requires collaboration with fellow educators, effective communication with parents, and a passion for helping students reach their full potential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons for students in Sixth through Eighth Grade
  • Foster an inclusive, engaging classroom environment that promotes student participation and achievement.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies and tools to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Assess student performance regularly and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and parents to support student development.
  • Ensure classroom management that encourages positive behavior, respect, and responsibility.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and faculty meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
  • Ensure that lessons are aligned with state standards and educational best practices.

  • Upper grades: Civics and History

2. Classroom Management:

  • Conflict resolution, establishing routines.

3. Instructional Strategies:

  • Differentiated instruction.

  • Timely feedback and assessments.

4. Technology Integration:

  • Familiarity with educational tools (Google Classroom, interactive whiteboards).
  • Promoting digital citizenship.

5. Communication Skills:

  • Clear verbal/written communication with students, parents, and staff.
  • Active listening.

6. Collaboration:

  • Teamwork with colleagues and administrators.
  • Participation in professional development.

7. Behavioral & Emotional Support:

  • Supporting emotional/social development.
  • Knowledge of special education accommodations (IEPs, 504s).

8. Adaptability:

  • Flexible with lesson plans and changes.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt.

9. Classroom Organization:

  • Efficient use of space and materials.
  • Time management.

10. Professionalism:

  • Ongoing professional development.
  • Knowledge of school policies and child protection laws.

11. Cultural Competence:

  • Inclusive teaching and fostering diversity.

12. Problem-Solving:

  • Handling challenges and supporting critical thinking.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • Florida Teaching Certification (K-8, or specific subject area certifications) OR Statement of Eligibility.
  • Prior experience teaching Kindergarten through Eighth Grade students (preferred).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Passion for fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
  • Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $47,500.00 - $52,000.00 per year
