Middle School / High School Special Education (SPED) Teacher
(English OR Math OR Science OR Social Studies)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support middle school and/or high school students in one core subject area: English, Math, Science, or Social Studies. The SPED Teacher will provide individualized and small-group instruction aligned to students’ IEPs and collaborate with school staff to ensure students receive appropriate academic and behavioral supports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction in one assigned subject area (English, Math, Science, or Social Studies)
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with applicable regulations
  • Adapt curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessments to meet diverse learning needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers within the assigned subject area
  • Monitor, document, and report student progress toward IEP goals
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Implement behavior intervention plans and positive behavior supports as needed
  • Maintain a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Valid state certification in Special Education (or eligibility to obtain certification)
  • Ability to teach or support instruction in one core subject area: English, Math, Science, or Social Studies
  • Experience working with middle school and/or high school students
  • Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and instructional best practices

Preferred Skills & Attributes

  • Subject-area strength in English, Math, Science, or Social Studies
  • Experience with co-teaching or inclusion models
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Data-driven approach to instruction and progress monitoring

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour

Education:

  • Bachelor's (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Teaching Certification (Required)
