Key Responsibilities1. Milk Recording & Data Collection
- Record tag numbers of all animals entering the milking parlor.
- Record individual and/or group-wise milk production accurately.
- Maintain daily milk yield records and ensure data accuracy.
- Verify animal identification and tagging before recording milk production.
- Enter and update milk production records in farm registers or software systems.
2. Milking Process Monitoring
- Monitor milking operations to ensure compliance with farm SOPs.
- Ensure proper pre-dipping and post-dipping procedures are followed.
- Observe milking hygiene practices and report any deviations.
- Identify improper milking techniques and immediately inform supervisors.
3. Animal Health Monitoring
- Identify animals showing signs of mastitis or udder abnormalities.
- Observe animals for illness, injury, or abnormal behavior during milking.
- Report sick animals or health concerns to the Veterinary Department promptly.
- Support early detection of health issues through regular observation.
4. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and submit daily milk production reports.
- Maintain accurate and organized production records.
- Report discrepancies in milk yield, animal identification, or parlor operations.
- Assist in generating weekly and monthly milk production summaries.
5. Team Coordination
- Coordinate with milking operators and parlor supervisors.
- Ensure implementation of milking SOPs and hygiene standards.
- Provide guidance to staff regarding animal identification and milk recording procedures.
- Support smooth and efficient parlor operations.
6. Compliance & Quality Control
- Ensure milk recording procedures comply with farm standards.
- Monitor adherence to hygiene and biosecurity requirements.
- Support quality assurance efforts by maintaining accurate production data.
Qualifications & Experience
- Veterinary Assistant (VA) / Livestock Assistant Diploma (LAD)
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in a dairy farm, milking parlor, or milk recording role.
- Experience with dairy herd management and milk recording systems will be an added advantage.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of milking SOPs and dairy hygiene practices.
- Basic knowledge of animal health, particularly mastitis detection.
- Good record-keeping and reporting skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
- Strong observation and team coordination abilities.
- Ability to work in a farm/on-site environment.
