Mining Engineer/Supervisor

Role Title: Mining Engineer/ Mines Supervisor (Stone Mines)
Location: Near Jamshedpur, Saraikela–Kharsawan District, Jharkhand
Work Type: Full-time | Site-based | Opencast (Stone/Quarry)
Reporting To: Owner / Project Head

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Mining Engineer / Mines Supervisor to lead day-to-day mining operations for our proposed stone mines near Jamshedpur. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows how to develop and run an opencast stone mine properly—development, OB management, benching discipline, equipment utilisation, production planning, and statutory safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Mine Development & Operations

• Lead initial mine development: approach roads, mine entries, boundary demarcation, pit development sequence.
• Plan and execute benching, face advancement, slope/berm maintenance, and safe working geometry.
• Manage OB/topsoil handling: identification, segregation, dumping yard planning, toe/retaining, and drainage.
• Ensure haul road design/maintenance (gradient, width, turning radius, drainage) for smooth dumper movement.
• Coordinate drilling/blasting (where applicable), excavation, loading, hauling, and dispatch.

Production & Equipment Utilisation

• Drive optimum utilisation of excavators, loaders, dumpers/tippers, drill, compressor, and support machinery.
• Daily planning: shift targets, machine deployment, downtime tracking, fuel/consumption discipline.
• Improve cycle times, reduce idle hours, and maintain working faces for consistent output.
• Supervise contractor teams/operators and enforce site discipline.

Safety, Statutory & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with relevant statutory provisions (Mines Act + DGMS provisions applicable to opencast mines).
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and ensure PPE and safe operating practices.
• Maintain statutory registers/logbooks, inspection readiness, and coordinate with inspectors/audits as needed.
• Implement basic systems: near-miss reporting, daily pre-start checks, safe traffic management inside mine.

Reporting & Documentation

• Daily/weekly reporting: production, dispatch, equipment availability, manpower deployment, safety observations.
• Coordinate measurements, basic survey/stack tracking (or supervise survey support).
• Support mine planning inputs: bench-wise extraction plan, dumping plan, and basic drawings (AutoCAD if possible).

Must-Have Requirements

• Strong prior experience in stone mines / quarries (opencast) with real benching + OB handling exposure.
• Ability to run operations on-ground: crew control, contractor handling, machine productivity, safety discipline.
• Comfort working in a developing site environment and setting up systems from scratch.

Preferred (Nice to Have)

• Experience in Jharkhand/nearby belt operations and local contractor ecosystem.
• Exposure to crusher/dispatch coordination, weighbridge/dispatch controls.
• Mine planning tools / AutoCAD, basic survey understanding.
• Strong safety culture and practical “doable” SOP mindset.
