MiTek Truss Designer

Coastal Building Components uses the latest software and equipment available to produce competitively priced products for our customers. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a truss designer that has experience using Mitek – Sapphire Management.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 3+ year experience in residential, commercial and/or, multifamily building industry. Must be able to demonstrate a desire to grow in the position to help us as we continue to provide a superior quality product and a high level of customer service.

To be considered, you must have a broad band internet connection capable of running MiTek Sapphire.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

- Gather information related to design work by reading prepared blueprints and project specifications of buildings provided by customers, builders, architects, and/or engineers.

- Use project management system effectively to understand priorities. Ensure design schedules are met.

- Design trusses with optimization principles in mind.

- Design in 2D and 3D layouts and provide prints on truss systems.

- Use project management software to sync project and finalize design paperwork according to facility procedures.

- Field contractor calls on questions regarding construction concerns.

Required Skills & Experience

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience designing residential, commercial and/or multifamily designs.

- Strong understanding of framing practices and truss manufacturing processes

- Advanced math skills through trigonometry, preferred

- Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications for even the most complex projects.

- Advanced layout and truss design skills.

- Ability to read and interpret finished truss calculations sheets for customers.

- Ability to work independently working on complex projects.
