ML/AI Lead (Next-Gen AI for OTRAS)

Role: ML/AI Lead

Experience: 7–12 Years

Salary: ₹upto – ₹2,50,000 per month

About the Role

OTRAS is building India’s first next-gen AI-powered examination ecosystem, handling 250M+ candidates per year, with advanced features like:

• AI-driven document verification
• OMR/OCR automation
• Face recognition + liveness detection
• Fraud/scam detection
• Deep-learning–based anomaly analysis

We are hiring an ML/AI Lead who will architect, build, and productionize large-scale AI and CV (computer vision) models.

This is a high-impact leadership role with full ownership of AI systems end-to-end.

Core Responsibilities

AI Architecture & Strategy

• Design and lead the end-to-end AI roadmap for OTRAS
• Define model architecture, frameworks, data pipelines
• Architect inference workflows at 10M+ requests/day scale
• Choose the right models (CNNs, Transformers, OCR/OMR models, embeddings)

Model Development

• Build and fine-tune models for:

✔ OMR detection
✔ OCR for documents
✔ Face recognition & liveness detection
✔ Image forgery detection
✔ Cheating/fraud scoring

• Train models using PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Optimize using ONNX, TensorRT, quantization

GPU Training & Optimization

• Manage GPU clusters (NVIDIA A-series or T4)
• Optimize training pipelines (AMP, mixed precision)
• Reduce model inference times significantly

MLOps & Productionization

• Deploy models using Triton Inference Server
• Work with the MLOps Engineer to integrate:
• model repository
• CI/CD
• model versioning
• canary rollouts
• performance monitoring
• Build scalable inference pipelines via gRPC

Data Engineering & Quality

• Create and manage datasets (OMR sheets, ID cards)
• Lead data labeling with intern teams
• Ensure dataset quality, augmentation, preprocessing

Security, Compliance & Reliability

• Build secure AI models to avoid spoofing/fraud
• Implement explainability and audit trails
• Work with DevOps and security team for compliance

Leadership & Team Coordination

• Lead ML interns and junior engineers
• Conduct training workshops (ML basics, labeling rules)
• Work closely with:
• Go backend team
• DevOps/SRE
• React frontend team
• Product & PMs

Required Skills

• 5–10 years experience in ML/AI
• Strong expertise in:

✔ PyTorch or TensorFlow
✔ CNNs, Transformers
✔ OCR/OMR models
✔ Face recognition models (ArcFace, FaceNet)
✔ Image processing & CV

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Volunteer

Pay: ₹180,000.00 - ₹1,080,070.03 per year
