Job Summary:
The MLCL Operator is responsible for operating the MLCL Tufting Machine or other machines if LCL is without tufting orders.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Repair any quality problems, i.e., changing hooks, blades, and needles
- Make stitch and yarn adjustments if required for setting up the machine.
- Repair gauge part-related defects specific to the LCL tufting machine.
- Get weight check for quality checker when machine changes are made.
- Change and secure backing for machines.
- Help creel in machine.
- Responsible for making first quality carpet and notifying the supervisor of any quality problems.
Performance Expectations (if applicable):
- Lifting is required of cores weighing 20 lbs. 6 times per shift and cones of yarn weighing 10-12 lbs. 4-5 times per shift.
- Standing is continuous, estimated 5 hours per shift.
- Reaching is required to thread up the machine every 10-12 minutes while the machine is running.
- Stooping is required 6 times per shift for intervals of 10 seconds.
- Bending is required to thread up the machine every 10-12 minutes while the machine is running.
- Must use wrenches 10-20 times per shift.
- Scissors must be used 10-20 times per shift.
- Snips must be used 10 times per shift.
- Must be able to distinguish colors and shade differences.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, and kneel.
Experience/Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to read and write and do basic addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
Other Requirements:
- Overtime is required on occasion.
- All accidents must be reported immediately.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Safety equipment must be worn as required.
- Report to management any quality, safety, or potential problems encountered while performing the job.
- Responsible for the quality and safety of his/her own output.
