Mobile Engineer

The Role :

You will own the Lawyered mobile app — the primary surface through which hundreds of thousands of users interact with our legal services. This is a sole-mobile-engineer role with senior-engineer expectations: you'll set the bar for mobile architecture, release process, performance, and UX quality. You'll work closely with the Tech Lead and backend engineers, and own everything from feature work to play store releases to crash triage. If you like having one product to call your own and shipping to real users week after week, this is the role.

What You'll Do

• Own the Lawyered React Native app end-to-end — architecture, feature delivery, releases, performance, crash-free rate

• Build features that integrate with our backend APIs, voice AI (LAILA), payments, and notifications

• Set up and maintain the release process — CI, beta builds, staged rollouts, OTA updates

• Drive performance and quality — startup time, bundle size, smooth scrolling, reliable offline behavior

• Triage and fix production crashes; own crash-free rate as a KPI

• Partner with design and product to ship UX that feels native and polished

• Mentor any interns or juniors who join the mobile track later
  
  Tech Stack

• Mobile: React Native (primary), TypeScript

• Native bridge work when needed (Swift / Kotlin)

• Backend you'll integrate with: NestJS APIs, Prisma, PostgreSQL/MySQL

• Voice / AI integrations: LAILA stack (LiveKit, Pipecat, Soniox v4, Cartesia)

• Tooling: Sentry, DataDog, Firebase, App Store Connect, Play Console

• CI / Release: EAS / Fastlane (your call — you'll own this)

Qualifications

Must-Have

• 2–5 years building production React Native apps (not just prototypes)

• Has shipped to App Store and Play Store, including managing reviews and rejections

• Strong TypeScript; understands React Native's quirks (navigation, lists, animations, native modules)

• Has debugged real production crashes and performance issues on real devices

• Comfortable reading native iOS / Android code when something needs a bridge fix

• Cares about UX details — you can tell a good animation from a bad one

Nice-to-Have

• Native iOS or Android development background

• Voice / audio / streaming SDK integration experience

• Push notifications, deep linking, payment SDK integration (Razorpay, Cashfree, etc.)

• Performance profiling — Flipper, Hermes, Reanimated internals

• Experience working as a sole mobile engineer in a small team

• 30 days — Set up locally; shipped your first small feature or fix; have a written take on the top 3 things to improve in the codebase

• 90 days — Owning the release process; one of the top-3 issues fixed; crash-free rate visibly better

• 6 months — Shipping major features cleanly; mobile is a calm, predictable surface, not a fire

• 12 months — The Lawyered app is one of the best React Native apps in Indian legal-tech; clear path to senior mobile engineer or mobile lead
