Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mobile Plant Fitter to join our team in Leicester. This role involves maintaining, repairing, and servicing a variety of heavy machinery and plant equipment, including excavators and forklifts. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, along with experience in fabrication, welding, and troubleshooting schematics. Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on mobile plant equipment such as excavators, forklifts, and other heavy machinery
- Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical diagrams, then perform necessary repairs or replacements
- Fabricate or modify components using welding, soldering, and assembly techniques to ensure optimal functionality
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to carry out repairs and maintenance tasks efficiently
- Repair or replace mechanical components including belts, hydraulics, and structural parts
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and repairs performed
- Assist with the installation of new equipment or upgrades as required
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies
- Provide excellent customer service by liaising with operators to minimise downtime and improve operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Proven experience in mechanical repair, electrical systems, or plant maintenance within a similar environment
- Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding, soldering, and reading schematics
- Familiarity with heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts is highly desirable
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment for assembly and repair tasks
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in mechanical or electrical trades are advantageous
- Strong problem-solving skills coupled with a proactive approach to maintenance challenges
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service
