Model Electrician – Scale Model & Miniature Lighting Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and creative Model Electrician to design, install, and maintain electrical and lighting systems within architectural and industrial scale models. This is a highly specialized role requiring both technical electrical knowledge and the delicacy to work within miniature, precision-built environments.

Key Responsibilities

Wiring & Electrical Installation

• Plan and install low-voltage wiring, LED lighting, and electrical components within scale models
• Solder and connect micro-circuits, LED strips, fiber optics, and miniature lighting systems
• Wire building facades, interiors, streetlights, landscape lighting, and feature illumination within models
• Install and configure control panels, switches, dimmers, and power supply units for model displays

Lighting Design & Effects

• Work closely with model makers and designers to achieve desired lighting effects and ambiance
• Create day/night lighting modes, animated lighting sequences, and zone-controlled illumination
• Use fiber optics, SMD LEDs, and other miniature lighting technologies for realistic effects

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults in existing models
• Maintain and service models during exhibitions, client handovers, and display events
• Ensure all electrical systems comply with safety standards

Collaboration

• Coordinate with fabricators, 3D designers, and project managers throughout production
• Advise on electrical feasibility during the model design and planning phase

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in electrical work, preferably in model making, exhibitions, fit-out, or display industries
• Strong hands-on skills in low-voltage systems, LED lighting, and soldering
• Experience with fiber optics and miniature/micro wiring is a strong advantage
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and work from technical briefs
• Steady hands, keen eye for detail, and comfort working in small-scale environments
• Knowledge of basic electronics and control systems (timers, dimmers, Arduino/controllers) is a plus
• Relevant electrical qualification or trade certification preferred
