Duties

  • Develop and implement engaging curriculum plans aligned with Montessori adolescent education standards and state science and math requirements.
  • Facilitate dynamic lessons in subjects such as Trigonometry, Geometry, Algebra, Calculus, Discrete Math, Differential Equations, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, and related fields.
  • Lead hands-on laboratory experiments including dissections, research projects, and scientific investigations to deepen understanding of biological and chemical concepts.
  • Excellent classroom management, mentorship, and student engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in tailoring lesson plans for diverse student needs, unique abilities, and fostering project-based, hands-on learning experiences.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues, manage documentation, and engage parents.
  • Integrate modern learning technologies and digital tools to enhance instructional delivery and student engagement.
  • Provide individualized academic advising and mentorship to support students’ personal growth, research pursuits, and college readiness.
  • Manage classroom behavior through effective classroom management strategies while fostering a respectful and inclusive learning environment.
  • Prepare students for standardized testing by designing practice assessments and offering targeted tutoring sessions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary lessons that connect math and science concepts across the curriculum.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, lesson plans, and laboratory reports.
  • Candidate must work collaboratively with other Montessori teachers, admin, staff, and parents.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the community
  • Must model desired behaviors and outcomes through leadership, empathy, and strong boundaries when necessary for our students
  • Must be able to schedule parent/student meetings and create individual behavior plans alongside all stakeholders; including the student.
  • Lead teacher must have knowledge of adolescent development, implement counsel when needed, and follow the principles of the Montessori pedagogy.
  • Implement inclusion, facilitate morning reflections, and guide community meetings
  • Engage in Socratic discusssions
  • Hold math seminars
  • Attend weekly staff meetings with colleagues, develop communication strategies for student engagement and creative learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mathematics, Science (Biology, Chemistry or related fields), Education or a relevant discipline; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Proven experience teaching adolescents in a classroom setting with Montessori methodology knowledge highly desirable.
  • Strong expertise in advanced mathematics topics including Trigonometry, Geometry, Algebra, Calculus, Discrete Math, Differential Equations.
  • Extensive laboratory experience with skills in dissection techniques, scientific research methodologies, lab safety protocols and laboratory equipment handling.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development tailored for secondary education levels that integrates STEM disciplines effectively.
  • Proficiency with learning technology tools such as digital simulations, virtual labs, educational software and online assessment platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex scientific concepts to diverse learners.
  • Demonstrated classroom management skills combined with the ability to mentor students individually or in groups.
  • Experience working within private schools or Montessori adolescent programs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of special education strategies and behavior management techniques beneficial for supporting all learners.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development through research participation or instructional design training is advantageous.

Salary - $55,000 with annual increases based on performance and leadership initiatives.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $57,799.40 per year
