Job Title: Montessori Directress
Department: Early Childhood / Montessori Section
Reports To: Principal / Head of Montessori
Job Summary:
The Montessori Directress is responsible for creating a nurturing, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children according to the Montessori philosophy and methodology. She facilitates the holistic development of each child—intellectual, physical, emotional, and social—by guiding them through purposeful activities and fostering independence, curiosity, and respect.
Key Responsibilities:Classroom Management & Teaching
- Prepare and maintain an inviting, organized, and child-centered Montessori environment.
- Present Montessori materials and lessons to individual children or small groups based on their readiness and interest.
- Observe, record, and assess each child’s progress and adjust lessons accordingly.
- Encourage self-directed learning, independence, and responsibility among students.
- Maintain discipline through positive guidance techniques in accordance with Montessori principles.
Child Development & Guidance
- Support the social and emotional well-being of every child.
- Identify individual learning needs and provide appropriate support or enrichment.
- Encourage respect, cooperation, and empathy among children.
- Guide children to develop fine and gross motor skills through purposeful work.
Environment & Materials
- Ensure Montessori materials are complete, clean, and properly displayed.
- Rotate and update learning materials according to lesson plans and student progress.
- Create a safe, hygienic, and stimulating classroom environment.
Parent & Staff Collaboration
- Maintain regular communication with parents through meetings, reports, and conferences.
- Collaborate with assistants, co-teachers, and the administration for smooth classroom operations.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events.
Record Keeping & Reporting
- Keep accurate records of each child’s work and progress.
- Prepare progress reports and portfolios for parent-teacher conferences.
- Maintain attendance and other required documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Diploma or Certification in Montessori Education (AMI, AMS, or equivalent).
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant field (preferred).
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a Montessori environment.
- Strong understanding of Montessori philosophy and early childhood development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and organized with a passion for working with children.
