We are seeking a Moon to Mars (M2M) Cross Program Integrator at the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX.
What You’ll Do:
In this role, you will be supporting the JSC Health and Medical Technical Authority (HMTA). The purpose of the JSC HMTA is to execute the Technical Authority governance model for human space flight for the NASA Headquarters Office of the Chief Health and Medical Officer (OCHMO). The focus of HMTA in human spaceflight programs is on the various programs’ vehicle design implementation of HMTA Standards (NASA-STD-3001), ensuring that each human spaceflight program defines the appropriate applicability, tailoring, and verification approach for NASA-STD-3001, Volumes 1 and 2. This is accomplished through dedicated and cross-matrixed Human Health and Performance (HH&P) and integration personnel. This highly diverse staff monitors how well human health and performance requirements are met across all human spaceflight programs, documents issues of unmet or under met requirements, communicates the status of these issues to Human Health and Performance (HH&P) management, Program Medical Officers (PMOs), and Chief Health and Performance Officers (CHPOs), and prepares materials for communicating awareness or escalating issues as needed.
In this role, you will be part of a team of Cross Program Integrators who work together with Program-Specific Integrators and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure NASA’s Artemis human spaceflight programs (e.g. Human Landing System (HLS) Program, Gateway Program, Orion, etc.) adequately incorporate and implement HMTA standards from NASA-STD-3001. The Cross Program Integrator role organizes and implements processes that facilitate HH&P and HMTA review of commercial vendor documentation and coordinates discussions and products to help assess vendor implementation of HMTA requirements. This position focuses on human system integration by identifying, tracking, and integrating HMTA/HHP relevant topics and issues across Artemis Programs. You will be responsible for facilitating and contributing to the resolution of these technical issues by helping define the problem, contributing to a solution, and incorporating input from HH&P SMEs and external stakeholders.
This position will support HMTA and HH&P personnel with communications, maintaining situational awareness, and preparation of related materials to execute those tasks. This position interfaces with HMTA and JSC HH&P Division personnel, Program and Project personnel, and commercial vendors. Human Systems Integration strategies are implemented to inform the HMTA and efficiently support Human Spaceflight Programs. Lessons learned while providing support to Human Spaceflight Programs are leveraged to improve HMTA standards and strategic processes.
You will:
- Establish and maintain general knowledge of HMTA standards, Artemis Program vehicle implementation of HMTA standards, and Artemis Program constraints that could impact implementation of HMTA standards.
- Provide insight to Program compliance with HMTA mandatory standards as well as inform HMTA decisions. Evaluate cross-vehicle interfaces to ensure the system is integrated and works together. Identify issues and elevate as necessary.
- Participate in designated Artemis Cross-Program meetings and forums as the HMTA/HHP representative. This includes proactively screening agendas to engage appropriate HHP representatives and/or SMEs as needed, taking notes during meetings, communicating relevant information to the HMTA/HHP team, and identifying potential HHP issues/impacts specifically those that affect more than one Artemis Program.
- Identify, communicate, and help resolve technical issues related to HHP disciplines that impact more than one Artemis Program.
- Coordinate with CHPOs for Artemis Programs, HHP cross Program integration team and HHP technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Contribute towards definition and execution of Cross-Program HMTA team support structure, processes, and execution.
- Coordinate and participate in HMTA/HHP review of Program Change Requests.
- Coordinate and participate in Program document and design reviews, develop corresponding summary assessments, and follow up on resulting actions.
- Participate in complex system analysis and develop corresponding position papers, presentations, and/or requirements interpretations for HMTA issues.
- Participate in HMTA meetings, NASA Human Spaceflight Program meetings, HHP meetings, and internal team meetings; develop and deliver presentations as necessary.
- Be responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies, and procedures.
What You Bring:
You bring experience collaborating and coordinating with multi-disciplined teams, ability to work independently and as part of team, and knowledge of (or ability to learn quickly) human spaceflight standards and disciplines. You use your experience and judgment to listen to Subject Matter Experts (SME), and to understand enough to represent their expertise, but not to serve as the expert to the exclusion of the SME. You will have or gain the ability to recognize which stakeholders are necessary for specific discussions, actions, and activities so that you can proactively engage those stakeholders when necessary. You will comply with KBR’s Safety, Health and Environmental Plan, Quality Plan, and all safety policies and procedures, and complete all assigned training.
Your Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field.
- At least 5 years’ relevant experience.
- Ability to work in Microsoft Office's suite of tools, especially Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- A knowledge of NASA’s Human System Standards (e.g., NASA-STD-3001) and the disciplines within Human Health and Performance is highly desired.
- Demonstrated experience with human systems requirements and verification in human spaceflight vehicle design and/or with NASA Technical Authority is highly desired.
- Experience in NASA spaceflight operations is highly desired.
- Expert knowledge of one or more of NASA’s Human Spaceflight Programs is highly desired.
Your Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills that include delivering presentations and writing reports. Verbal skills also include the ability to speak up in meetings and guide discussions.
- Demonstrated ability to write, decompose, and tailor human systems design and verification statements is desired.
- Demonstrated experience with human factors activities such as human-in-the-loop tests and task analyses is desired.
- Ability to effectively interact with customers at all levels.
What to Expect
This position is expected to be hybrid requiring at least 3 days a week in person. Frequent trips between office location and locations on-site at JSC are expected. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
