Mortgage Enforcement Law Clerk - Work from Home Anywhere in Ontario

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Enforcement Law Clerk to join our Ontario legal team. The ideal candidate will have direct, hands-on experience managing mortgage enforcement files from demand to final realization, including power of sale and foreclosure matters. This position is fully remote and requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high volume of files efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage all aspects of mortgage enforcement files from start to finish, including:
  • Preparing and issuing demands, notices of sale, statements of claim, and default notices.
  • Drafting affidavits, certificates of default, writs, and court materials for power of sale or foreclosure proceedings.
  • Coordinating service and filing of court documents across Ontario.
  • Preparing discharge statements, payout statements, and statements of account.
  • Assisting the Real Estate Agent with Schedule B to the APS to ensure the appropriate power of Sale clauses have been properly accounted for.
  • Liaising with clients, lenders, real estate agents, process servers, title insurers, Sheriffs, locksmiths, property managers and opposing counsel.
  • Monitoring timelines to ensure compliance with procedural rules and client SLAs.
  • Maintain accurate and organized file documentation in the firm’s case management system.
  • Support lawyers with document preparation, reporting, and client updates.
  • Assist with court scheduling, including issuing motions and arranging hearings as required.
  • Manage recoveries, sales, and file closings, ensuring all documentation and trust reconciliations are complete.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience specifically in mortgage enforcement (power of sale, foreclosure, possession, deficiency actions).
  • Strong knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and court filing systems (OCJ/Superior Court of Justice).
  • Proficiency with Teraview, OnLand, and Court Services Online (CSO).
  • Strong drafting and review skills for legal correspondence and court materials.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and practice management systems.
  • Law Clerk Diploma or equivalent education required.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $37.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
