Redwood Credit Union is looking for a Mortgage Loan Officer II who will be responsible for marketing mortgage loan products, recommending and implementing new products and services that will benefit the membership of Redwood Credit Union.
Key Responsibilities
Loan File Management:
o Deliver exceptional Member service across all communication channels, following RCU standards.
o Effectively market all RCU loan programs, including complex products (first liens, home equity, investor properties, etc.).
o Take applications via online system, phone, walk-ins, and branch/internet queries.
o Manage assigned loans from origination to completion, ensuring files are accurate and complete.
o Interpret Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter findings for optimal Member approval and proper credit decisions.
o Review title reports and appraisals, resolving issues for compliance and completeness.
o Provide weekly loan status updates to Members.
o Identify and offer cross-sell opportunities tailored to Member needs.
o Approve or recommend loans within established limits.
o Track expired, cancelled, withdrawn, and declined loans; update systems and send required notifications.
o Collaborate with processors to manage pipeline, rate locks, and Member service quality.
o Prepare closing documents and ensure smooth loan closings.
o Propose workflow improvements for efficiency.
o Examine loan files for accuracy and compliance before audits.
Training, Member/Branch Education Support:
o Counsel Members on loan requirements and options, including counteroffers and future qualification steps.
o Train and mentor branch staff and Loan Officer I staff on mortgage lending fundamentals.
o Present at homebuyer seminars and special events.
o Visit branches to assist with training and application flow.

Thorough knowledge of real estate principles, practices, rules, and regulations.

Proficient knowledge of all residential mortgage loan products offered by RCU.

Proficient knowledge of secondary market investor guidelines and compliance requirements.

Skill, aptitude, and interest in sales.

Highly skilled in the operation of a PC with word processing and spreadsheet software, and Internet/intranet access.

Ability to work a rotating schedule which will include working on rotating Saturdays.

Ability to obtain and maintain registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry in compliance with the requirements of Federal Law, including the SAFE ACT and NCUA part 761.
The ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma, plus a minimum of three years of experience in the mortgage lending industry or closely related field, including at least one year as a loan officer.
Compensation: Base starting range: $34.00 to $46.00 per hour commensurate with experience.
Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity. Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist, and turn.

- Work environment is indoors; majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.
