JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is a member-facing role within HFCU’s Mortgage and Member Business Lending (MBL) areas. A key driver of success for this position is providing excellent member service. Knowledge of HFCU’s mortgage and business loan products, lending process, attention to detail and being self-reliant. The Loan Officer is responsible for evaluating, authorizing, or recommending approval of loan applications for individuals and businesses. This role involves guiding clients through the loan process, assessing financial information, and ensuring all lending practices comply with regulations and company policies.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop mortgage and equity loan business through member relations, outside calls to realtors and other centers of influence.
  • Analyze creditworthiness by reviewing financial statements, credit reports, and income documentation

· Perform business development, networking, and public relations activities by actively engaging in community events and professional organization. Networking with existing and potential members.

  • Meet with members to understand their financial needs and loan requirements. Advise applicants of appropriate products and loan structure.
  • Properly document the loan application including but not limited to pulling credit reports, verifying all debts, assets and employment history.
  • Send initial disclosures to applicants for signature within the time allowed by regulatory guidelines.
  • Stay current on all secondary market guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain relationships with clients to encourage repeat business and referrals.
  • Work with all department personnel to deliver a smooth and efficient loan experience to members.

· Cross-share HFCU products and services to ensure the financial needs for all applicants are met.

· Serve as back up for member business loan applications.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations (RESPA, TILA, BSA, CFPB regulations, etc.).
  • Maintain adherence to NCUA guidelines, internal controls and credit union policies.
  • Respond to member inquiries per HFCU service standards.
  • Assist in developing a marketing plan for all mortgage loan products.
  • All other duties assigned by management.

Skills and Qualifications:

· Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or vocational training in finance or business administration preferred.

· Experience:

Experience in sales, lending, mortgage origination, business banking, or a related field is preferred.

· Technical Skills:

Proficiency in loan origination software, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and other relevant software.

· Soft Skills:

· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

· Excellent organizational and time management skills.

· Good communication and member service skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
