Mowing Route Crew Member (Route Owner, Driver/Trailer Hauler)

We are a well-established landscaping and hardscaping company serving the Norfolk area for over 40 years. Our team takes pride in delivering high-quality outdoor spaces and professional service. We are currently seeking a Mowing Route Crew Member (Route Owner) to join our field team and take ownership of assigned mowing routes and turf presentation.

This is a hands-on, physically active role for someone who enjoys outdoor work, values craftsmanship, and takes pride in attention to detail.

Main Objective

Take full ownership of assigned mowing routes by delivering consistent, high-quality results in:

• Mowing
• Edging
• Blowing off clippings, leaves, and debris from lawns and hard surfaces

Job Responsibilities

• Drive the company truck and safely haul a landscape trailer to and from job sites
• Perform routine lawn mowing using walk-behind, push, and zero-turn mowers
• Edge along sidewalks, driveways, curbs, flower beds, and hardscape borders for clean, professional results
• Use blowers and hand tools to clear grass clippings, leaves, and debris from lawns, beds, and hard surfaces
• Perform seasonal leaf and debris cleanup of lawns during fall and winter (as needed)
• Secure equipment properly for transport (tie-downs, ramps, gates), and maintain an organized, safe trailer setup
• Complete daily basic equipment and vehicle checks (fuel, fluids, tires, lights, blades, belts, safety guards), and report maintenance needs promptly to head of maintenance
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites and leave properties looking sharp before departure
• Communicate professionally with customers and team members, including reporting property issues, obstacles, and quality concerns
• Follow company safety standards and job procedures
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to work at assigned job sites
• Use smartphone apps for schedules, time tracking, and job updates (we use Jobber)

Service Scope Note (No Spraying)

• This position is hands-on turf maintenance and cleanup only and does not include chemical applications or spraying.
• Our turf program offerings are limited to pre-emergent and fertilizer applications.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to work Monday–Friday
• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work (lifting, bending, standing for extended periods)
• Comfortable operating and transporting equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers) safely
• Basic comfort using smartphone apps for route schedule, time tracking, and job updates (we use Jobber)
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
• Team-oriented mindset and good customer service skills

Preferred:

• Previous lawn care or landscaping experience
• Experience operating zero-turn and walk-behind mowers
• Experience towing and backing a trailer
• Experience running a mowing route or leading route quality
• Experience using Jobber or similar field service software
