Job Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Material Planning and Logistics (MP&L) Project Manager is responsible for working with Exteriors divisions to spearhead projects established to reduce working capital, optimize material conveyance and storage, and optimize the transportation costs throughout the supply chain with the goal of improving Magna’s overall operational performance. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in MP&L, with a strong focus on data analysis, optimizing efficiency, minimizing costs, and ensuring internal and external customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in cross-functional teams to execute projects related to MP&L.
Support divisions launching new programs to ensure PDP MP&L deliverables are understood and effectively implemented at each gate.
Analyze MP&L data and processes to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements, including, but not limited to, inventory optimization, cycle counting, inventory accuracy, ERP/MES functionality, material conveyance and storage optimization, and internal and external logistics optimization.
Ensure the timely and effective completion of MP&L projects and the related deliverables.
Support the implementation of new technologies and/or processes aimed at improving MP&L operations.
Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management, providing updates on key performance indicators (KPIs), deliverables and milestones.
Collaborate with other functions on project goals, requirements, and deliverables.
Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and/or internal functions to ensure effective communication and project alignment.
Capture lessons learned; implement improvements in Magna systems and processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Knowledge/Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
Knowledge of and experience with lean manufacturing and MP&L processes and concepts including Plan for Every Part (PFEP), inventory management, demand forecasting, material conveyance and storage, transportation, and warehouse operations.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software (e.g. SAP, QAD), Manufacturing Execution System software (MES) (e.g., Plex, Solidat), and Business Intelligence software (e.g., Power BI).
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, assess risk and root cause, and implement improvements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong leadership capabilities.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in MP&L or related functions in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands/Work Environment - Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office and/or manufacturing environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer, may require local, domestic, and international travel.
