An MRD (Medical Records Department) Assistant Manager in a hospital oversees daily operations, ensuring accurate, secure, and confidential patient record management (both physical and EHR), leading the MRD team, implementing policies, handling audits, and coordinating with clinical/admin staff to meet legal and quality standards like NABH. Key duties involve supervising staff, managing data integrity, ensuring privacy, and supporting hospital accreditation, requiring strong organizational, communication, and technical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Departmental Supervision: Manage daily operations, staff scheduling, training, performance, and workflow within the MRD.
- Record Management: Ensure proper organization, storage, retrieval, and completeness of patient records (physical & EHR).
- Compliance & Quality: Uphold confidentiality (HIPAA/local laws), implement policies, conduct audits, and support accreditation readiness (e.g., NABH).
- Data Integrity: Oversee data entry, accuracy checks, and maintenance of Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Staff & Stakeholder Coordination: Train MRD staff, collaborate with doctors, nurses, and administration for timely data and issue resolution.
- Reporting & Coding: Assist with medical coding, generating reports, and analyzing data for quality improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Skills: Strong organizational, leadership, attention to detail, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Proficiency in EHR systems and medical terminology is crucial.
- Qualifications: A relevant diploma/degree in Health Information Management or Healthcare Administration is typically preferred, along with experience in healthcare administration.
