Assistant Middle School Baseball Coach

Position dependent on a minimum of 12 student-athletes participating.

About the Position
Selkirk is a remote 1B school district serving a close-knit rural community where athletics play an
important role in building character, teamwork, and school pride. The Assistant High School Baseball
Coach supports the Head Coach in developing a competitive, educational, and positive baseball
program. This role helps foster athletic skill development, sportsmanship, accountability, and personal
growth, while mentoring student-athletes both on and off the field.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Ability to meet all WIAA coaching standards
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain prior to season)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree (education preferred)
  • Valid Washington State teaching certificate
  • Prior baseball coaching experience

Essential Responsibilities
• Assist in coaching individual and team skill development
  • Support planning and implementation of organized in-season practices
  • Promote sportsmanship, discipline, and positive team culture
  • Help maintain accurate attendance, eligibility, and program records
  • Assist with equipment inventory and recommendations for purchases
  • Ensure safe practice and game environments
  • Support supervision of student-athletes at practices and competitions
  • Model and reinforce district and WIAA expectations

Compensation
$1,500 Per the 2025–2026 Selkirk Extra-Curricular Salary Schedule
