MTA AECOM Civil Construction Inspector Technician (Contract)

About the Opportunity

W. Allen Engineering, PLLC is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Inspector to support a major rail infrastructure improvement program for the Brewster Yard Improvements Project in Brewster, New York. This high-profile transportation project includes parking facility construction, roadway and access improvements, utility relocations, drainage systems, site development, retaining structures, bridge-related work, and rail yard expansion components. The selected candidate will play a key role in ensuring construction activities are performed in accordance with contract documents, project specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards. The project includes a new parking structure, roadway improvements, utility upgrades, drainage enhancements, and rail yard infrastructure improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily construction inspection of civil and site work activities.
• Monitor earthwork, grading, drainage, paving, utility installation, concrete work, retaining structures, and roadway improvements.
• Verify contractor compliance with project plans, specifications, permits, and safety requirements.
• Prepare daily inspection reports, field observations, quantity tracking, and photo documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers, contractors, engineers, and client representatives.
• Review construction schedules and monitor work progress.
• Assist with testing and inspection activities, including soils, concrete, asphalt, and utility installations.
• Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
• Attend progress meetings and provide status updates.
• Ensure quality control and documentation requirements are maintained throughout construction.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of construction inspection experience on transportation, roadway, rail, utility, or infrastructure projects.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Experience documenting field activities and preparing inspection reports.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to the project site.

Requirements

• Proven experience in construction inspection or management within large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction practices, quality control procedures, and safety regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
• Excellent analysis skills to evaluate site conditions and identify potential risks or deficiencies.
• Familiarity with construction site operations, including pipeline installation and yard improvements.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with contractors, engineers, and project managers.
• Valid experience in data collection, documentation, and report writing related to construction projects. • OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
• Experience working in active transportation or railroad environments.

Pay: $48.00 - $54.00 per hour
