A vacancy has become available at our Packing Centre in Bedfordshire as;
Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer
The role;
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a progressive and well invested family company specialising in egg production and packing.
Working a mid shift 10.30am to 7.30pm, with the ability to start at 7am to cover team holidays as and when neccesary
This role will include day-2-day planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to manufacturers programme and reactive maintenance of equipment used to pack high volumes of produce including egg packing machinery, pick & place robots and other production equipment, such as industrial washers, packaging denesters, driven conveyors and Fanuc robots
Main duties;
- Planning and carrying out scheduled and reactive maintenance
- Fault finding, repairing, and testing a range of Mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
- Responding to emergency breakdowns
- Maintaining all services throughout the site, including drainage
- Obtaining specialist components, fixtures, or fittings from OEM and finding cost effective alternatives from third parties
- Liaising with production to find ways to improve efficiency and minimize downtime
- Ensuring compliance with documentation and reporting procedures
- Creating/designing maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods
- Managing stocks of supplies and equipment
- Liaising with production staff, QA & company managers
- Organising and assisting with third party maintenance work, liaising with Providers/Suppliers
- Controlling maintenance tools, engineering stores and equipment
- Carry maintenance and repairs / installations across the whole site, with regards to the fabric of the building and the utility services within as and when needed
- To contribute to company objectives and values
- To adhere to Company Rules / Health and Safety legislation / Environmental Standards and Practices
- Use CMMS to optimise maintenance procedures, monitor performance and manage workload
Additional duties;
- To contribute to productivity and morale by communicating problems promptly to management and by assisting members of immediate, and wider teams, when required, to the best of job holder’s abilities
- To communicate effectively with management and other staff to improve morale and teamwork as well as better understanding of, and progress towards overall Company goals
- Occasionally there will be a requirement to work extra hours to meet deadlines

About you;
- Be qualified to ONC, NVQ Level 3 or higher in an electrical or mechanical subject or a Nationally recognised apprenticeship in maintenance engineering with 3+ years experience
- Must have a valid , long term work visa, we cannot offer sponsorship for this role
- Have a flexible attitude to changing workflows
- Be a self starter and self motivated as a member of a very small team
- Willing to work as part of a team or on your own
- Positive and can do attitude
- Strong interest in solving technical problems
- Good communication skills
- Be willing to work under pressure at times

The working week;
Monday to Friday Day shift with flexibility to work weekends as and when repairs or maintenance is needed as per nature of the role, you will need to have the ability to be flexible with working hours to deal with breakdowns and installations in between the hours of 7am and 7.30pm
