Houghton Group is a family-run construction, electrical and retrofit contractor delivering works across the social housing sector. We work closely with local authorities and housing associations, delivering high-quality repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment services within occupied homes.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Multi-Trade Plumber to join our team on a self-employed basis, supporting our social housing contracts.

Role Overview

You will be carrying out plumbing works alongside associated multi-trade activities within occupied and void properties. This role requires a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and customer care, ensuring works are completed with minimal disruption to residents.

Key Responsibilities

• First and second fix plumbing works within domestic properties
• Bathroom and kitchen repairs and replacements
• Reactive maintenance, including leak detection and fault finding
• Pipework repairs and replacements (copper, plastic, waste systems)
• Associated multi-trade works including tiling, carpentry, and making good
• Completing works in occupied homes with a professional and respectful approach
• Ensuring all works are completed in line with programme and client requirements

Requirements

• Proven experience in plumbing within social housing or domestic maintenance
• Strong multi-trade capability, particularly making good and finishing
• Ability to work efficiently across reactive and planned works
• Relevant plumbing qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent preferred)
• Own van, tools, and public liability insurance
• Good communication and customer-facing skills
• Reliable, organised, and able to work independently
