Multimedia Communications Specialist

Position Description
The Multimedia Communications Specialist is the primary visual storyteller for Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Metro Atlanta (Habitat NWMA). This role is responsible for creating, managing, and distributing high-impact content across digital and traditional channels. By blending strategic writing, graphic design, and video production, this specialist will bring the mission of affordable housing to life, engaging donors, volunteers, and the community through compelling multi-sensory narratives.
Communications
- Lead end-to-end storytelling by interviewing future homeowners, volunteers, and donors to produce compelling "impact stories" for newsletters, blogs, and collateral.
- Draft and distribute press releases and media kits; proactively pitch stories to local media outlets and manage a media tracking log to measure visibility and reach.
- Design, write, and deploy segmented e-newsletters and targeted fundraising campaigns using Giveffect or similar CRM platforms.
- Collaborate with the Mission Advancement and ReStore teams to execute cross-channel marketing campaigns that drive donations, volunteer sign-ups, and retail traffic.
- Ensure all internal and external messaging, talking points, and visual assets are consistent and professional.
- Assist leadership in drafting reactive communications and maintaining brand integrity during sensitive situations or construction site developments.
- Monitor and report monthly on key performance indicators (KPIs) including email open rates, press mentions, and website traffic to refine communication strategies.
Graphic Design & Visual Branding
- Create digital and print assets of all marketing collateral such as brochures, event invitations, site signage, and impact reports.
- Use Adobe InDesign to manage high-stakes print projects, ensuring all typography and layouts meet professional standards.
- Create and maintain a library of Canva templates for various departments to ensure brand consistency across the organization.
- Coordinate with external vendors (printers, signage companies) to manage quotes, file specifications, and production deadlines.
- Maintain and organize a digital asset management system (DAM) for all photography and video footage.
Digital & Social Media
- Plan and execute a monthly content calendar that balances Habitat NWMA mission work with ReStore promotional needs.
- Manage and grow the social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn; engage with followers, respond to inquiries, and foster an active online community.
- Script, film, and edit short-form video content for social media (Reels/TikToks) and long-form "mission" videos for events and the website.
- Maintain and update the WordPress website; optimize visual layouts and copy for SEO best practices to improve organic search rankings.
- Execute and monitor digital advertising efforts, including Meta (Facebook/Instagram) boosted posts and Google Ad Grants, to drive ReStore foot traffic and donor acquisition.
- Provide monthly reports on digital engagement, email open rates, and website traffic to inform future strategy.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Mastery in identifying, interviewing, and extracting compelling narratives from diverse stakeholders to produce high-impact content for print, digital, and video.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro) and Canva to produce professional-grade layouts and marketing collateral.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, pivoting efficiently between writing, graphic design, and video editing software in a fast-paced environment.
- Functional knowledge of CMS platforms (WordPress), email marketing/CRM tools (Giveffect), and social media analytics to drive data-informed content decisions.
- Working knowledge of lighting, audio recording, and framing for field-based video and photography.
Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Journalism, Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of professional experience in a multi-disciplinary creative role (nonprofit experience is a plus).
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end video production, including storyboarding, filming, and post-production (motion graphics, captions, and audio leveling).
- A comprehensive digital portfolio showcasing a diverse mix of long/short-form writing, graphic design (InDesign/Canva), and video samples.
Minimum Requirements
- Exceptional verbal and written skills with a strict adherence to AP Style and brand voice.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage project timelines and meet strict print/mailing deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine desire to work effectively with diverse populations in Cobb, Douglas, and Paulding counties.
- Valid driver’s license and a reliable personal vehicle for travel to build sites and community events.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
- Ability to work on active construction sites, outdoors, and in various weather conditions.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
