The City of Monett has an opening for Airport Operations Manager at the Monett Regional Airport. This is a full-time, benefits eligible, exempt salary-position, including LAGERs (L-6) retirement benefits, paid vacation, paid sick leave, and paid holidays. The position will remain open until filled.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Direct daily operations of airport activities and staff.
- Manage property and grounds maintenance, such as landscaping, mowing, weed-eating, and runway maintenance such as snow removal, runway light repairs, etc.
- Manage departmental budgets, financials, and reports.
- Manage Airport planning and projects.
- Oversee negotiations of agreements and leases in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Maintain Airport Safety and Emergency procedures and ensure safety inspections are conducted and documented as required.
- Communicate effectively with public and private entities, businesses and the Airport Commission.
- Deploy marketing strategies that promote the Monett Regional Airport.
- Manage processes of aircraft fueling procedures and systems of handling aircraft and airport equipment.
- Ensure proper compliance with all Missouri Department of Transportation and Federal Regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations pertaining to airport management, safety, aircraft rescue and firefighting, aviation fueling, wildlife hazard management, security, and aircraft operations.
- Working knowledge of all airport systems including pavements, electrical systems, aviation fuel systems, heavy equipment, computerized equipment, lighting, storm water drainage, aircraft de-icing, communication systems, and all aviation navigational systems.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to develop and monitor a budget, make budget recommendations and resolve budget issues.
- Ability to direct, supervise, hire, and evaluate subordinate personnel.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, state and federal agencies, and other City employees.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and quick learner.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in airport administration, public administration, public safety, aviation or equivalent is required, with minimum of 3 years of responsible Airport management and related supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
