Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Municipal Billing Clerk to manage the comprehensive billing processes for our local government department. Responsibilities
- Prepare and issue accurate municipal bills for water, sewer, trash collection, and other public services using advanced accounting software.
- Manage accounts receivable by tracking payments, applying credits, and following up on overdue accounts through effective negotiation and customer service skills.
- Reconcile accounts regularly to ensure data accuracy and performing account analysis to identify discrepancies.
- Maintain detailed records of billing transactions, journal entries, and adjustments in compliance.
- Provide exceptional phone etiquette and customer service.
- Process payments via various methods while ensuring adherence to financial concepts such as debits & credits.
- Assist in audits by preparing documentation related to governmental accounting standards and supporting analysis skills for financial reporting purposes.
Skills
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including accounts payable/receivable, journal entries, account reconciliation, and revenue cycle management.
- Knowledge of governmental accounting practices.
- Experience with data entry combined with attention to detail for accurate record keeping.
- Ability to analyze financial data critically while demonstrating excellent math skills and analysis capabilities.
- Effective customer service skills paired with professional phone etiquette to address customer inquiries efficiently.
