Music Teacher

Job Summary: The K-5 Music Teacher will be responsible for teaching music to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. This role includes providing foundational music education, fostering a love for music, and developing students’ musical abilities. In addition, the teacher will lead drama and choir programs for middle school students and organize and facilitate our annual Christmas and Easter programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Music Instruction

• Develop and implement engaging music curriculum for K-5 students.
• Teach various aspects of music education including rhythm, melody, harmony, and music theory.
• Introduce students to different genres, instruments, and cultural music traditions.
• Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment.
• Design and deliver drama and choir programs for middle school students (grades 6-8).
• Facilitate rehearsals, provide vocal training, and guide students in performance techniques.
• Plan and direct middle school drama and musical productions.
• Organize and lead the Christmas and Easter programs, including selecting music, coordinating rehearsals, and managing performances.
• Assess and track student progress in music education and performance skills.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration regarding music programs, student progress, and performance events.
• Stay updated on best practices in music education and perform continuous professional development.
• Participate in school meetings and contribute to the overall mission and vision of Advent Lutheran School.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification (if applicable).
• Proven experience teaching music, drama, and choir to K-8 students.
• Strong proficiency in various musical instruments and/or vocal techniques.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and colleagues.
• A passion for nurturing students’ artistic talents and fostering a love for the performing arts.
• Be able to lift 20 pounds and stand on feet for several hours at a time.

Pay: $47,940.00 - $65,000.00 per year
