The Mission of the Jessye Norman School of the Arts - Eastside Atlanta is to develop student artists to become creative, caring, visionary, responsible citizens through the transformative power of the arts. The broad-ranged fine arts program challenges students academically, integrates technology, and lays the foundation for extraordinary life experiences.

The Jessye Norman School of the Arts - Eastside Atlanta is an after school and summer enrichment program designed to develop and nurture the artistic and creative talents of student artists. The School of the Arts serves the cultural and educational needs of these youth by providing:

  • Tuition-free Fine Arts instruction
  • Academic Tutoring and Intervention
  • An advanced level study in dance, drama, music, art, and creative writing and more
  • Exposure to professionals working within the arts fields
  • Information on possible careers in the arts
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of presentation and performance

The Fine Arts summer camp teacher is responsible for leading classroom activities for student artists enrolled in Jessye Norman School of the Arts - Eastside Atlanta.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop course content, class activities, and projects.
  • Participate fully in weeklong camp classes.
  • Manage class resources.
  • Report any and all accidents/incidents to the Education Staff.
  • Maintain a classroom climate which nurtures and supports a learning environment.
  • Ensure student artists safety during class activities.
  • Work Collaboratively with fellow teaching artist
  • Monitor and assist with snack, lunch, and break.
  • Attend orientation, professional development, and faculty/staff meetings.
  • Facilitate class and activities in indoor and outdoor spaces.
  • Fill out and return Summer Camp Evaluations.
  • Fulfill additional duties assigned by the Program Director.
  • Report to the Program Director
  • Availability full-time during the dates of July 13 - July 31, 2026

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have two or more year’s education experience working with school children.

A bachelor's degree in a Fine Art, a related art, or professional experience. Candidates must submit a resume, complete the interview process, and provide a background check. Candidates must submit examples of their artistic work or performance.

Candidates are expected to be professional at all times. Candidates must support and practice imaginative, engaging and student centered education and be able to work individually and collaboratively in a team environment.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per year
