National Equipment Procurement Manager – Dedicated Fleet

We are a customized 3PL delivery and warehouse operations management, inventory control, transportation management, and workforce company. In this role, you will play a critical part in optimizing fleet performance, controlling costs, and supporting dedicated customer operations nationwide.

Position Summary

The National Equipment Procurement Manager – Dedicated Fleet is responsible for leading procurement strategy, sourcing, vendor management, fleet utilization, and cost control for fleet assets supporting dedicated operations nationwide. This role ensures fleet reliability, safety, and cost efficiency while meeting strict service-level agreements (SLAs), customer requirements, and contract profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Operations & Asset Management

Oversee national dedicated fleet (tractors, trailers, specialized equipment)
Align fleet specifications with customer contracts and operational needs
Ensure high fleet availability and on-time service performance

Procurement & Systems

Own procurement systems, fleet platforms, and vendor data integrity
Manage tools such as Fleetio, Geotab, Lytx, ELD platforms or similar
Define workflows, approvals, and spend governance processes

Maintenance & Reliability

Establish preventive maintenance programs
Monitor breakdowns, CSA scores, and service failures
Standardize maintenance practices across vendors and locations

Customer & Contract Support

Partner with Operations and Sales on onboarding and renewals
Support pricing with cost analysis and lifecycle projections
Participate in customer audits and reviews

Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations
Support safety initiatives and accident investigations
Maintain strong safety performance metrics

Cost Control & Profitability

Manage fleet budgets by account
Control maintenance, fuel, leasing, and depreciation costs
Drive cost reduction and margin improvement initiatives

Fuel & Sustainability

Monitor fuel efficiency, MPG, and idle time
Implement fuel-saving strategies
Track emissions and sustainability metrics

Vendor & OEM Management

Lead sourcing strategy and vendor negotiations
Manage RFP processes and contracts
Track vendor performance through scorecards

Leadership & Collaboration

Lead fleet and maintenance teams across regions
Collaborate with Operations, Safety, Finance, IT, and Sales
Drive training, accountability, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–5+ years of experience in fleet management, procurement, or transportation operations
Strong knowledge of fleet economics and dedicated operations
Experience managing vendors, contracts, and procurement strategies
Strong financial, analytical, and negotiation skills
Experience with fleet systems and telematics platforms
Proven leadership experience in multi-site or national operations
