Utility Construction

Brandon Bird Utilities Construction is seeking a motivated individual to join our natural gas utility crews in Amarillo, Texas and surrounding West Texas communities. This position is ideal for someone who may have limited construction experience but is eager to learn, work hard, and build a long term career in the utility industry.

This role supports natural gas distribution construction and maintenance projects that help power homes and businesses across our communities. Crew members receive hands on training and may have opportunities to grow into skilled operator and crew leadership roles over time.

Position Overview

Our Utility Laborers assist with natural gas pipeline installation, maintenance, and repair activities. This position involves physical outdoor work supporting experienced operators and crew leads while learning the fundamentals of underground utility construction.

Our Amarillo crews primarily support leak investigation and repair work as well as system growth projects, including installing new services and supporting the expansion of natural gas infrastructure across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with leak investigation and repair work on natural gas distribution systems
• Support installation of new gas services and system growth projects
• Assist with excavation, pipe installation, backfill, and restoration activities
• Use hand tools and assist operators with equipment and materials on job sites
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Follow all company safety procedures and job site safety standards
• Work closely with crew members and supervisors to complete daily tasks
• Assist with inspections, documentation, and compliance activities as required
• Participate in company provided training and development opportunities

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required
• Must reside in Amarillo, Texas or be willing to relocate to Amarillo at the applicant's own expense
• Construction or outdoor labor experience preferred
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and job site conditions
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Strong work ethic and commitment to safety and quality

Compensation and Benefits

• Base Pay: $16 to $20 per hour depending on experience
• Traveling Per Diem: Per diem may be provided for overnight travel to other West Texas locations when applicable
• Health Insurance: The company provides $400 per month toward employee health insurance
• Training and Certification Support: The company provides training and support for required certifications, including Operator Qualification Certifications
