NCLEX Coach/ Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The NCLEX Success Manager provides leadership for and supervision of nursing students related to academic progression and retention. Selects, trains and supervises student tutoring, academic workshops, supplemental instruction, academic coaching and group study sessions. Serves as the School of Nursing liaison to the students’ services department. Responsible for leading the planning, development, organization, management, implementation and evaluation of all aspects of nursing student’s progression, remediation and success within the school of Nursing. NCLEX Manager also act as NCLEX Coach and is responsible for tutoring and preparing students for NCLEX Exam.

NCLEX SUCCESS MANAGER – DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meets one-on-one with students as necessary.
  • ·Ensures and tracks nursing student participation in the in-depth student retention assessment process.
  • Administers risk assessment tool, tabulates and interprets results, makes recommendations for interventions and student assistance to the Director
  • Guides the development of nursing students academic success and retention
  • Maintains communication with nursing administration focuses on promoting and coordinating activities that support nursing student in their preparation for the NCLEX exam.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the ATI integration in the Nursing Programs.
  • Evaluate date to gauge the effectiveness of initiatives and create strategies.
  • Accountable for tracking and identifying strategies to improve the passing rates.
  • Provides weekly, monthly and quarterly updates
  • Regularly updates faculty, staff and administration on nursing academic success, progression, and retention initiatives at monthly faculty meetings
  • Monitor, reviews, analyzes data collection of faculty interventions and student participation related to academic success, progression, remediation and retention services.
  • Collects, prepares and presents detailed reports, for various constituents regarding student academic success, progression, remediation, and retention outcomes/activities within the School of Nursing.
  • Makes recommendations for process and quality improvements to the School of Nursing
  • Attends regularly scheduled faculty and leadership meetings in the School of Nursing to ensure a collective vision for student’s outcomes.
  • Coordinates all components of compensation to students.
  • Solicits, reviews and interviews student worker applications; selection, training, scheduling, evaluation and monitoring of nursing students serving as student mentors and peer-tutors in the School of Nursing.
  • Develops and presents appropriate content at the School of Nursing new student orientations and the College-wide new student orientations for nursing academic success, progression and retention programs, availability of mentors in coordination with the leadership team in the School of Nursing.
  • Maintains an established work schedule, including occasional evenings and/or weekends as required by School of nursing planning and operational needs.
  • Assesses nursing student needs and provides appropriate resources and/or referrals working in collaboration with School of Nursing faculty; serves as the staff liaison to the College Committee of Student Concerns.
  • Serves as a consultant for faculty on student issues as related to nursing student remediation for academic success and nursing program retention

Other responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of Nursing

  • Partners with Director of Education to set prioritization strategy for improvement
  • Works closely with nursing leadership to ensure effective execution
  • Communicates regularly with leadership on progress
  • Identifies “at Risk” students and provides regular communication around their progress
  • Ensures intervention strategies around areas of ATI weakness are documented and monitored on a weekly basis;
  • Analyzes dashboard and progress toward the path to ATI success and evaluates ATI success and evaluates ATI tracking tool data to develop strategies to improve NCLEX initiatives.
  • Demonstrate positive attitudes and positive actions through a display of courtesy, congeniality, cooperation, sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Protect the confidentiality of information with areas of position responsibilities by preventing unauthorized release, both verbally and/or in writing.
  • Regularly tutors and coach the students and evaluate their knowledge and preparation and provide them coaching so that they can be successful in the NCLEX exam.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Eligibility for approval by the California Board of Registered Nursing
  • Master degree or higher in nursing or related natural, behavior or social science field from an accredited college which includes courses in nursing, or in natural, behavioral or social sciences relevant to nursing practice
  • Current California license as a registered professional nurse in good standing.
  • One year of teaching experience in the area of specialty.
  • 1 year full-time continuous, or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as an RN in the designated area within the last 5 years; or 1 academic year of RN level clinical teaching experience in the designated area, or its equivalent, that demonstrates clinical competency within the last 5 years.
  • Validated clinical competence in nursing area relevant to assigned teaching content (geriatrics, medical-surgical, mental-health/psychiatric nursing, obstetrics, or pediatrics). Must possess and exercise the degree of learning, skill, care and experience ordinarily possessed and exercised by staff level registered nurses of the nursing area assigned.
  • Current BCLS certification and clinical requirements for immunizations and orientations determined appropriate by clinical agencies.
  • Current clinical nursing malpractice insurance.
  • Experience in NCLEX coaching.
  • Criminal background clearance.
  • Physical/health clearance from licensed healthcare provider, including clinical participation requirements
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of program students, faculty and staff.

Salary is Negotiable

Pay: From $122,000.00 per year
