Neonatology Physician Assistant

Location: Upstate New York
Position Type: 1099 Locum Tenens
️ Shift: 7 On / 7 Off 12-Hour Shifts (Days or Nights)
Facility: Level III NICU 16-Bed Unit

Opportunity Overview:

Join a well-established and collaborative Neonatology team providing care in a Level III NICU with a strong mid-level and nursing support staff. This is a long-term, locum tenens assignment designed to support staffing due to LOA and reduced availability from current neonatologists.

Schedule & Coverage:

• 12-hour shifts (day or night)

• 7 days on / 7 days off

• Full-time, ongoing need

• No transport responsibilities

• Night shift includes coverage of well-baby nursery

️ Team Composition:

• 3 Full-Time Neonatologists

• 6 Pediatric Mid-Levels + 1 Per Diem

• No NNPs on site

• Support staff includes NICU RNs and ancillary staff

• Neonatologist always on-call during off hours

Case Volume & Setting:

• 16-bed Level III NICU

• Average 8 9 patients/day

• 0 2 admissions per shift

• Neonatologist attends all C-sections

• No transport duties Level IV NICU located 5 mins away handles all transfers

️ Required Clinical Skills:

• Nursery Level III/NICU Care

• Ventilation Management (Invasive & Non-Invasive)

• Chest Tube Insertion

• Exchange Transfusions

• UAC/UVC, Central & Arterial Line Insertion

• LPs, Diagnostic & Therapeutic Taps

• Acute Volume/BP Management

EMR & Logistics:

• EMR: EPIC

• Facility reimburses: Flight, Hotel, Rental Car
  

Requirements:

• Board Certified in Neonatology OR experienced NICU PA REQUIRED

• Active New York State License REQUIRED

• Must be able to independently manage NICU patients
