Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Nesting Engineer / CNC Plasma Programming Engineer with experience in PEB (Pre-Engineered Buildings) to manage CNC plasma nesting, part programming, and optimization of steel cutting operations. The role focuses on minimizing material wastage, improving cutting efficiency, and ensuring accurate transfer of PEB design drawings into CNC-ready formats for production.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare nesting programs for CNC plasma cutting machines based on approved PEB fabrication drawings.
• Convert shop drawings / fabrication drawings into CNC machine-ready files (DSTV, DXF, NC, etc.).
• Optimize nesting layouts to minimize scrap and maximize plate utilization.
• Coordinate with PEB design, detailing, and production teams to ensure accurate and timely cutting.
• Ensure correct plate thickness, material grade, part orientation, and kerf allowances in nesting.
• Plan daily cutting schedules in coordination with production planning.
• Reduce rework by ensuring first-time-right programming.
• Maintain nesting records, material consumption data, and cutting reports.
• Troubleshoot CNC plasma cutting issues related to nesting/programming.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives for productivity, yield, and cost reduction.
• Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and manufacturing standards on the shop floor.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education:

• Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field

Experience:

• 2 to 5 years of experience in PEB manufacturing or structural steel fabrication
• Hands-on experience in CNC plasma cutting nesting & programming

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of PEB components (plates, cleats, end plates, base plates, stiffeners, gussets)
• Experience with nesting software (e.g., FastCAM, Pronest, SigmaNEST, Hypertherm ProNest, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication/shop drawings
• Understanding of material optimization, kerf, lead-in/lead-out, and cutting parameters
• Familiarity with DSTV/DXF/NC file formats
• Basic understanding of steel grades and plate thicknesses

Soft Skills:

• Strong coordination with design, production, and QA teams
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work under production timelines
• Good communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a PEB factory / structural steel fabrication unit
• Exposure to production planning and shop-floor coordination
• Knowledge of quality systems and ISO standards

Salary

₹25,000 – ₹35,000 per month (depending on experience and skill level)
