Position Summary

This position is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the organization's network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have intermediate to advanced experience managing complex switching and routing environments, ensuring high levels of availability, performance, and security across all network systems.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Network Design and Implementation: Plans, designs, and implements network infrastructure projects. This includes configuring and deploying enterprise-grade network hardware such as routers, multilayer switches, and access points.
  • Advanced Switching and Routing: Manages and optimizes a complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching environment. Responsibilities include configuring VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), port aggregation (LACP), and advanced dynamic routing protocols like OSPF and BGP.
  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitors network performance and integrity to identify potential bottlenecks and ensure optimal operation. Utilizes network management systems and diagnostic tools to conduct performance tuning and capacity planning.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Serves as an escalation point for complex network issues. Diagnoses and resolves intricate problems related to routing, switching, connectivity, and hardware failures in a timely manner.
  • Network Security: Implements and maintains network security measures in collaboration with the IT security team. Responsibilities include managing access control lists (ACLs) and contributing to firewall rule management.
  • Documentation: Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for network architecture, configurations, and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in a network administration role with a focus on enterprise-level routing and switching.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Demonstrated expertise with advanced routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).
  • In-depth knowledge of Layer 2/3 switching technologies, including VLANs, VTP, STP, and LACP.
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Ubiquiti, Juniper, Unifi, etc.)
  • Proficiency with network diagnostic and monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, OpManager, PRTG).
  • Certifications: CCNA, Sec+, CySA+ are preferred.
  • General Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities effectively. Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Bonus Points

  • You can automate tasks using scripting languages like Python or PowerShell.
  • You have hands on experience working with next generation firewalls (NGFW), like those from Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Cisco.
  • You're familiar with security tools like vulnerability scanners (e.g., Nessus, Qualys) and have some experience looking at logs in a SIEM (e.g., Splunk, LogRhythm).
  • You understand core security concepts like Identity and Access Management (IAM), endpoint protection, and the basics of incident response.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
