Network & Cyber Specialist

Position Summary:
The Network & Cyber Specialist is responsible for ensuring the security, reliability, and performance of the DFW Cintra Organization’s Network Communication Systems (NCS) network and critical Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) field and data center systems. This role supports the NCS framework, executes and participate in cybersecurity audits and compliance checks, manages vulnerabilities, creates and maintains and NCS infrastructure documentation (including NetBox and Solarwinds), and administers security appliances such as FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Network & Cybersecurity Governance: Support NCS processes and compliance activities and participate in internal and external cyber audits.

2. Vulnerability & Threat Management: Perform and participate in the routine vulnerability scans and assessments along. Track, prioritize, and coordinate remediation in the corporate Vulnerability Management Tool.

3. Network Operations & Monitoring: Monitor network performance and security alerts. Troubleshoot routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs.

4. Fortinet Ecosystem Administration; Manage FortiGate firewalls via FortiManager. Perform log analysis via FortiAnalyzer.

5. Field Systems Support; Maintain connectivity for field/ITS/tolling systems. Support lifecycle and patching processes.

6. NetBox & Documentation; Maintain asset inventory and IPAM. Support diagrams, documentation, and audits.

6. SolarWinds & Documentation; Maintain asset inventory and alerts in Solarwinds. Create and support diagrams, documentation, and audits.

7. Cyber Audit & Compliance Support; Provide evidence, logs, configurations. Assist in remediation and control improvements.

8. Incident Response; Support cyber incident investigations. Participate in readiness exercises.

9. Other reasonable network and cyber oriented tasks requested by direct management.

Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Deep understanding of network architectures (routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, BGP/OSPF, NAT, HA firewalls).
  • Experience with Fortinet technologies (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiSwitch, FortiAP).
  • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and SIEM platforms.
  • Knowledge of OT/ITS network environments and field equipment is highly preferred.
  • Strong documentation and diagram creation skills; experience managing infrastructure data in NetBox or similar CMDBs.
  • Experience with Solarwinds Network Monitoring tool.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with auditors, IT teams, vendors, and field technicians.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in explaining technical issues to non‑technical stakeholders.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5+ years in network engineering or cybersecurity roles.
  • Certifications preferred: Fortinet NSE (3–5+), CCNA/CCNP, Security+, CySA+, GSEC, or similar.

Working Conditions

  • In office work depending on operational needs.
  • Participation in on‑call rotation for critical network/security events.
  • Occasional after‑hours maintenance windows.

· The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25–50 pounds as part of normal job duties. Physical tasks may include bending, reaching, walking, standing, and handling equipment or materials as required.
