Summary
We are seeking a full-time Network and Systems Administrator to join our team. This position is responsible for the health center's IT infrastructure, including network systems, hardware, and software, while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations like HIPAA. The role is part of a larger IT team that supports clinical and administrative staff across multiple clinic locations.
Responsibilities
- Network and server maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), wireless networks, servers (virtual and physical), and related hardware, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Technical support: Provide tier 1 and tier 2 technical support for staff, addressing hardware, software, and network connectivity issues in a timely manner. This may involve remote assistance, phone support, or on-site visits.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve system failures, network performance issues, and other technical problems to minimize downtime and ensure efficient operations.
- Hardware and software management: Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripheral devices. Manage software deployment and updates.
- IT security and compliance: Implement and monitor security protocols to protect the network and sensitive patient data, ensuring full compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations. This includes managing firewall settings and VPN access.
- Electronic health records (EHR) support: Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of EPIC EHR system and other healthcare-specific applications.
- Documentation and inventory: Create and maintain accurate network diagrams, technical documentation, and IT asset inventory. Track and update all support tickets and issue resolutions.
- Vendor coordination: Communicate and coordinate with third-party vendors for equipment maintenance and support.
- Disaster recovery: Perform regular data backups and participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning to protect against data loss.
Qualifications:
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field is preferred, but a combination of certifications and equivalent work experience is also acceptable. At least 2-4 years of experience in network or IT support. Prior experience in a healthcare setting, especially a FQHC, is preferred.
Technical Expertise:
- Operating systems: Strong familiarity with Windows, macOS, and mobile operating systems (iOS and Android).
- Networking: Proficiency in TCP/IP protocols, DHCP, DNS, and Active Directory. Experience with network devices such as wireless access points, switches, and firewalls.
- Cabling: Knowledge of standard cabling, including CAT5/6 and fiber optics.
- Cloud environments: Experience with cloud services like Microsoft 365 and Azure.
Soft Skills:
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical staff.
- Problem-solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose complex issues.
- Customer service: A patient and empathetic demeanor for assisting end-users.
- Attention to detail: Meticulous approach to documentation and network maintenance.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical tasks like lifting and relocating equipment, working with cables, and working in tight spaces.
Certifications (preferred):
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ or equivalent.
