The Network/Server Specialist is responsible for the maintenance, security, and optimization of the institution’s IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, student information systems, and network environment. This role ensures dependable system performance, safeguards data integrity, and provides secure access to technology resources that support both academic and administrative functions.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, along with a proactive willingness to learn and collaborate within a team environment. They must be highly organized, capable of multitasking effectively, and able to take full ownership of support tickets and projects from initiation through successful completion.
Essential Functional Responsibilities:

Manage provisioning and lifecycle of employee and student accounts, including permissions, file shares, and identity access controls across Active Directory and Google Workspace.

Lead deployment, training, and reporting for Student Information Systems (SIS) and related platforms, including system integrations and data migrations.

Administer on-premises and virtual server environments, including installation, configuration, patching, and performance optimization.

Develop reports and queries; ensure data accuracy and governance standards.

Assist support campus network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, wireless access points, telephony systems, security systems, and related applications.

Assist in monitoring system and network performance; proactively identify and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.

Provide technical support and training to faculty and staff.

Maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, configurations, processes, and procedures.

Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to implement, maintain, and improve IT systems and services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

Understanding of IT Infrastructure frameworks and best practices, including access control models, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and incident response procedures.

Experience managing network and infrastructure components, including firewalls, switches, and servers.

Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery planning, business continuity concepts, and data retention policies.

Familiarity with network monitoring and logging tools to proactively identify performance or security issues.

Ability to analyze system logs and network traffic for troubleshooting and security investigations.

Strong documentation skills, including the ability to create technical guides, system diagrams, and process workflows.

Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently, prioritize competing tasks, and meet deadlines.

Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Required Experience/Education:

Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience with managing firewalls, switches, servers, active directory, google workspace,
Preferred Experience/Education:

Experience with student information systems such as Jenzabar J1/JICS, PowerFAIDS, Slate, Canvas, Anthology Blackboard, Elusian, or similar platforms.

SQL scripting and query optimization; PowerShell and automation.

Experience supporting a corporate intranet, website, or digital content platform.
