Position Summary:
The Network / Systems Administrator position focuses on Microsoft Windows Server and enterprise infrastructure components in support of the Information Technology Services (ITS) department’s mission to deliver high‑quality service and support to clients.
Under general direction, this position performs a variety of technical duties, including coordination, maintenance, upgrades, and support of computer systems; administering, evaluating, and modifying systems to ensure proper security and operation; planning, coordinating, and implementing system software release changes for enterprise servers; resolving technology issues; and providing system enhancements and technical support to clients.
This position requires after‑hours and on‑call duties as necessary to support system updates and emergencies.

Required Education/Experience:
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • One (1) year of experience in systems administration, network administration, or a comparable advanced technical role

  • Working knowledge of Windows desktop and server operating systems

  • Experience supporting on‑premises and cloud‑based infrastructure

  • Ability to independently troubleshoot complex technical and security issues


Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:
  • Three (3) years of experience in systems or network administration

  • Experience administering Microsoft Intune (device management, compliance policies, application deployment)

  • Experience supporting AWS cloud environments (access control, security best practices, hosted services)

  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Azure

  • Experience supporting virtualized server environments

  • Experience with enterprise security tools, endpoint protection, and vulnerability remediation

  • Experience supporting directory services and enterprise network infrastructure


Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Principles, methods, and procedures of operating computers and servers

  • Data management techniques including data security and disaster recovery

  • Server administration in a secured environment

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft core enterprise services

  • Thorough knowledge of DNS, DHCP, SMTP, and other core protocols

  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux

  • Professional demeanor, integrity, problem‑solving ability, and stress management

  • Skills in installing, maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting technical systems

  • Knowledge of systems analysis and information systems concepts

  • Understanding of program specification, design, testing, and prototyping

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships and maintain a customer-focused approach to service delivery

  • Strong communication, documentation, and time‑management skills

  • Security knowledge including FERPA compliance
