Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties
- Evaluate and manage neurosurgical patients in emergency, inpatient, and outpatient settings.
- Perform detailed neurological examinations and interpret diagnostic imaging including CT and MRI scans.
- Assist in the planning and execution of neurosurgical procedures under supervision.
- Manage post-operative care and monitor for complications.
- Participate in trauma management for head injuries and spinal cord injuries.
- Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams about treatment plans and prognosis.
On-Call Duties
- Participate in a structured on-call rota to provide 24/7 neurosurgical coverage.
- Respond promptly to neurosurgical emergencies including trauma, hemorrhages, and acute neurological deteriorations.
Teaching and Training
- Supervise and mentor junior doctors, interns, and medical students rotating through neurosurgery.
- Contribute to departmental teaching sessions, case conferences, morbidity and mortality meetings, and journal clubs.
- Engage in continuous professional development and attend relevant educational courses.
Research and Quality Improvement
- Participate in clinical audits, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Keep up to date with advances in neurosurgical techniques and evidence-based practice.
Administrative Duties
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including neurologists, radiologists, ICU staff, and allied health professionals.
